POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Finance is a hands-on financial leader responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations financial reporting budgeting and portfolio financial management for a growing multifamily real estate portfolio. This role is ideal for a highly capable Controller or Assistant Director who is ready to take the next step into a Director position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Management & Reporting

Oversee timely and accurate financial reporting for corporate entities operating properties and development projects.
Review monthly and quarterly financial packages including consolidated reporting and variance analysis.
Maintain consistent accounting policies internal controls and quality standards.
Oversee cash flow planning liquidity analysis and treasury functions.
Support investor reporting requirements including distributions capital account tracking waterfall inputs and quarterly investor packages.

Accounting Operations & Controls

Lead and manage the month-end and year-end close processes.
Supervise property-level accounting including AP/AR bank reconciliations and general ledger accuracy.
Manage preparation and documentation for audits and tax-related activities.
Ensure strong internal controls process consistency and accuracy of financial data across all entities.
Oversee construction draw tracking cost allocations and development accounting.

Budgeting Forecasting & Financial Planning

Lead annual budgeting and reforecasting cycles for properties development projects and corporate operations.
Work closely with Property Management Managing Partners and Development teams to analyze performance and provide financial insight.
Build and maintain reporting tools dashboards and KPI metrics to support decision-making.
Provide strategic recommendations to improve operational efficiency and portfolio performance.

Lender Investor & JV Support

Coordinate lender reporting covenant monitoring and compliance.
Support refinancing acquisition and disposition processes through financial analysis and documentation.
Maintain strong relationships with banks private equity investors and JV partners.

Systems Processes & Technology

Oversee proper utilization and improved use of financial and property management systems.
Support system enhancements.

Team Leadership & Development

Lead mentor and develop the Accounting and Finance staff.
Establish clear expectations and performance metrics.
Promote a culture of collaboration accountability and professional growth.

QUALIFICATIONS

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience including 4 years supervisory/management experience.
Background in real estate accounting (multifamily development construction or property management) absolutely required.
Strong understanding of consolidated entities multi-entity structures property-level accounting and real estate financial operations.
Experience managing accounting teams and scaling processes in a growing organization.
Proficiency with property management/accounting systems (Yardi/Entrata/Rent Manager/etc.).
Advanced Excel skills and strong financial analysis capabilities.
Excellent communication organizational and leadership skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced growth-oriented environment.
