Micron is undergoing a historic expansion in Boise ID with a multiyear investment in leadingedge semiconductor manufacturing. The Operations Improvement team partners across Fab operations IT Automation Scheduling and Applications to deliver scalable datadriven solutions that advance manufacturing excellence.
As an Operations Improvement Engineer this role focuses on enhancing manufacturing performance through automation data analytics and decisionsupport frameworks. The position drives improvements that streamline processes reduce manual effort and enable worldclass operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
  • Build and coordinate automation projects that reduce manual effort shorten cycle time enable faster rootcause analysis and improve decision quality.
  • Deliver early automation wins using rulebased workflows and dashboards progressing toward adaptive AI/LLMdriven solutions.
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions to optimize Fab processes and eliminate waste.
  • Define and deliver decisionsupport and workflowautomation frameworks that integrate AI/ML analytics and human expertise.
  • Partner with Fab operations IT and crossfunctional Operations Improvement teams to deliver scalable automation solutions and productionmetric reporting.
  • Ensure adherence to safety policies and promptly report any safetyrelated concerns.
Minimum Qualifications
  • MS in Industrial Engineering Computer Science Data Science; or BS with 2 years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of programming languages such as C# Perl Python and VBA (Python preferred).
  • Understanding of relational and NoSQL database methods including SQL Snowflake and MongoDB.
  • Proven ability to plan drive and complete projects effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex analysis succinctly.
  • Proficiency in statistics data analysis and problemsolving.
  • Understanding of manufacturing science topics such as scheduling inventory management and capacity planning.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading decisionsupport workflowautomation or dataengineering initiatives in complex environments.
  • Endtoend software development knowledge.
  • Experience building and deploying endtoend ML systems or strong interest in developing productiongrade ML automation.
  • Advanced data extraction analysis and reporting skills.
  • Handson experience designing querying and optimizing relational and NoSQL databases in production environments.
