JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
Under supervision of the Permit Technician Supervisor thePermit Technicianis responsible forperforming technical and administrativesupport related to processing of building and other development-related permits for the Building Safety Division. This position serves as the primary point of contact for the publiccontractorsand design professionals ensuring that permit applications are completeaccurateand processedin accordance withapplicable building codessupplementsand procedures.

This individual will have a construction or development background with a basic understanding of the permitting process and the ability to guide andadvisecustomers about the various stages of the process. The candidate must also have the proven ability to quickly move between diverse tasks with ease and must thrive in a deadline-driven professional environment.
SCHEDULE:
This positionoperateson our four-day work week (Monday-Thursday). This position is hybrid with remote work and in-office work as needed once a training period has been completed.
COMPENSATION:
Total Base Pay Range:24.56 - 30.70 - 36.84 USD Hourly
Compensation will bedeterminedbased on educationexperienceand skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Customer Service & Public Assistance
Receive and respond to inquiries by phone email and in person
Assistingcustomers at front counter with applications payments and general inquiries.
Providing information to contractors homeowners and the publicregardingbuilding codespermittingprocesses and inspection procedures.
Permit ApplicationanddocumentProcessing
Reviewingevaluatingand approving permit applicationsandsubmitteddocumentsfor completeness and compliance.
Preparing and issuing building electricalmechanicaland plumbingpermitsand certificates of occupancy.
Determineappropriate permittypes and fees for building re-roofing/siding mechanicalplumbingand electrical permits.
Records & Data Management
Enter data and prepare a variety of records and reports.
Maintain statistical and financial reports involving plans reviewed permits issued inspections performed valuationsrefundsand all related data.
Maintaining and organizing physical and electronic filing systems including scanning and retrieval of documents.
Financial Transactions & Reporting
Receive payments for building permits sub-permits re-inspection fees and miscellaneous tasks at the front counter or by fax or mail.
Process payments andmaintainrelated records.
Deposit monies and prepare balance reports for funds received and post amount to Treasurers Office daily.
Complete andsubmitCensus Bureau reports toappropriate agencies.
Administrative & Technical Support
Using Microsoft Office andpermittingsoftware for research data entryreportingand communication. Prepare correspondence reports and forms with accuracy and attention to detail. Perform a variety of technical and administrative duties using data-entry and file maintenance programs.
Maintain a supply of office suppliesformsand other administrative materials.
Ensure adherence to division policy and procedures.
Code Research & Compliance Support
Research issues related to building codespermitsand inspections.
Supporting inspectors and plans examiners by providing relevant information and documentation.
Assistingwith interpretation and application of codes under the direction of supervisory staff.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:
Experience:1 year of work-related experience in an administrative or customer facing role.
Education:High School Diploma or GED
License/Certifications:ICC Permit Technician certification or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
*Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
Preferred knowledgeskillsand abilities:
Background in construction or development and working knowledge of permit process
High attention to detail when proofreading/correcting written reports
Establish rapport and interact professionallyin order tomaintainand foster harmonious working relationships with all stakeholders
Ability to exercise good judgment flexibility and creativity in response to changing situations and needs
Excellent written and verbal communication
Data stewardship of regulatory requirements and industry best practices
Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
Detail-oriented and consistent
Ability to work independently and as part of a team with professionalism and integrity

A valid Colorado drivers license is required for positions that drive on County Business in either a county or personal vehicle within 30-days of hire or beginning to serve as an intern or volunteer.
