About the Department The Lifelong Learning department delivers high-quality accessible educational programs that empower adults to pursue personal growth maintain cognitive physical and emotional well-being and engage in meaningful community connection. Through in-person and virtual offerings we foster a culture of lifelong learning that strengthens individual vitality and contributes to the overall health and resilience of our community. General Responsibilities The Lifelong Learning department is seeking passionate and dedicated instructors to lead engaging hands-on courses for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping students build confidence independence and practical life skills in areas such as social skills daily living vocational skills financial literacy personal safety and more. The instructor will create a welcoming and supportive learning environment that encourages participation celebrates achievements and fosters a sense of community. The instructor will adapt teaching strategies and materials to meet the diverse abilities learning styles and needs of adult learners. They will monitor student progress provide individualized support and feedback and implement accommodations to ensure every student can addition the instructor will collaborate with Lifelong Learning staff on curriculum planning course development and professional growth opportunities contributing to a dynamic and inclusive educational program.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience Bachelors degree in Special Education Human Services Adult Education Psychology Social Work or related discipline. At least 12 years of experience teaching supporting or working directly with adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities. Relevant certifications or training in working with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities are highly desirable. Experience designing and delivering instructional activities life skills training or vocational training in an inclusive and accessible learning environment. Experience creating inclusive and accessible learning environments including adapting instruction to meet diverse learner needs. Experience in curriculum development for adults with disabilities. Teaching Load Courses typically meet once per week for 90 minutes. Faculty may be asked to teach one or more courses based on their expertise and availability.
