What youll be doing

As a Director Special Loans - Bilingual reporting to the Senior Director Special Loans you will be based inMontreal and will be responsible for portfolio management activities related to a portfolio of our high risk Corporate Banking and Commercial Banking this role you will work with a wide variety of business executives and senior accounting and legal professionals frequently in the context of intense and time-sensitive restructuring processes. The portfolio of accounts may be geographically diverse necessitating periodic travel.

How youll succeed

  • Relationship Management Within delegated authority ensure that both high risk performing and impaired (non-performing) loans and Debts Written Off are managed in a prudent manner (i.e mitigating risk while maximizing recover of assets within the overall context of CIBCs commitment of being a relationship focused bank).
  • Leadership Provide leadership and mentorship within Special Loan and across the organization. Foster and maintain ongoing partnerships within CIBC to promote early identification and referral of accounts.
  • Portfolio Management - Estimate and review annual loan loss experience for assigned accounts and update the estimate quarterly as appropriate. Make recommendations to management in respect of potential improvements to policies procedures and standards. Provide portfolio analysis and reporting to the Senior Director and/or Vice President relative to the performance of your high risk portfolio.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate knowledgeof credit products and practices sufficient to analyze and assess customer requirements relevant risk factors and profitability/capital factors and possess strong negotiation presentation and facilitation skills. Its an asset if you have knowledge of insolvency practices used in Canada/US.
  • You have a degree in businessor a related discipline &/or a CPA CFA or similar professional designation or equivalent work experience.
