Intern Electrical Engineering

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist Facilities Engineering with electrical infrastructure projects including power distribution equipment installations and facility upgrades.
• Support project planning and coordination including tracking schedules budgets and project documentation.
• Assist in reviewing electrical drawings single-line diagrams and equipment specifications for facility systems.
• Participate in site walkdowns and inspections to document electrical systems (switchgear transformers substations backup power etc.) and identify improvement opportunities.
• Help collect and analyze data related to energy usage electrical loads and facility system performance.
• Work with engineers and contractors to support project execution commissioning and system testing.
• Assist with updating engineering documentation maintenance records and project reports
• Prepare a final internship presentation or report summarizing project contributions and key learnings.

Education & Experience

• Education Level Required: Bachelors or Masters
• If bachelors candidate should be a rising Junior (completed 2 years by start)
• Majors: Electrical Engineering Electrical Engineering Technology or related engineering discipline
• Relevant coursework power systems electrical design energy systems or industrial electrical systems is strongly desired. is a plus.
• Open to currently enrolled students or those who have graduated within one year of the internship start date.

Skills & Other Requirements

• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Team-oriented but able to work independently when needed.
• Adaptable and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and time management.
• Familiarity with electrical power systems and facility infrastructure.
• Experience with AutoCAD Revit or electrical drawing review is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel Word and project tracking tools preferred.
• Internship Duration: 10 14 weeks.

Working Conditions

• This role will be based on-site in Sherman TX
• Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary.
• Work will involve time spent in facilities areas mechanical rooms or construction zones supporting engineering projects.

Physical Requirements

• Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or in meetings.
• Use of hands and fingers for typing writing and handling documents.
• Occasional lifting of objects or materials up to 20 pounds for administrative tasks.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
