Discipline:
- Assists the principal in maintaining standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere and effective participation in all activities.
- Follow all discipline actions in accordance with the handbook and ensure that infractions are teachable moments.
- Oversee day-to-day disciplinary issues in the High School working closely with faculty and staff to ensure compliance with school policies.
- Review the student handbook each year to ensure accurate documentation and explanation of current school policies and practices relating to discipline..
- Assists the principal in the coordination of campus security facilities and grounds.
- Assists principal in mitigating student attendance problems.
- Serves on discipline or expulsion panels as assigned.
- Assist the ISS teacher when issues arise.
Communication
- Facilitates faculty and staff development related to school culture and consistent enforcement of student discipline.
- Keep the community informed about school activities through newsletters news releases and attendance and parent meetings.
- Communicates high expectations for both staff and students and provides appropriate motivation to reach expectations
- Maintains a liaison with social service and youth service agencies in pursuing referral follow ups.
- Communicates with parents District Office the public and other schools and public agencies including the police juvenile authorities and county agencies as necessary
- Actively provides follow-up student discipline in regards to teacher and campus referrals.
- Confers with and advises parents on matters of students behavior and the implementation of effective programs related to student discipline.
- Communicate clearly and in a timely fashion both verbally and in writing with students parents and appropriate school staff regarding any disciplinary event or consequence.
Organization
- Keep accurate records regarding disciplinary infractions and consequences.
- Enter data into eSchool in a timely manner.
Supervision
- Assists in the supervision of students before during and after the school day.
- Attends and provides supervision at school activities occurring during late afternoon and evening hours.
- Be visible in hallways during transition time and on duty during both lunches unless dealing with a disciplinary issue in the office during that time.
- Randomly check bathrooms (especially before and after bells)
- Conducts regular classroom and school walkthroughs to keep students in order.
