Job Summary:

The Safety Manager will be responsible for the design implementation and coordination of safety and loss control policies across assigned construction projects. Responsibilities include providing professional and technical guidance to project teams on risk management environmental compliance and safety practices while fostering a culture that promotes safe working conditions and behaviors.


Working independently to meet measurable objectives the Safety Manager will support operational planning make decisions based on established procedures and exercise strong leadership and communication skills. This role collaborates closely with internal departments and engages with external stakeholders including owners owner representatives trade contractors vendors and project partners to drive and maintain a high level of safety performance across the organization.


Safety Manager Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee project safety efforts ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and assist with incident investigations
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings to integrate safety planning into project execution.
  • Facilitate and manage jobsite safety inspections.
  • Identify risks associated with construction activities and develop practical solutions to mitigate them.
  • Deliver safety training as needed.
  • Advise individuals subcontractors and employees on safe practices.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and provide solutions.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to the safety committee driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage and support the claims process ensuring proper documentation and follow-through.
  • Input and ensure accuracy of safety records for prequalification efforts to help obtain potential and actual projects.
  • Promote and reinforce a strong culture of safety through leadership communication and daily actions.

  • Develop site specific safety plans.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associates or bachelors degree in Safety Construction Management or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 9 years of progressive construction safety experience; accredited degree may substitute for up to 4 years of experience.
  • CHST or other relevant safety certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety standards regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to read interpret and apply safety regulations legal requirements and compliance standards.
  • Proven ability to identify hazards and drive high-quality safety performance on construction projects.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to set priorities and manage tasks independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work diplomatically with diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software and systems.
  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record; willingness to travel and stay overnight as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform jobsite-related physical tasks.
