DESCRIPTION:

As a Manager Data Sciences working in the Data Science Center of Excellence you will be part of a team dedicated to increasing the business efficiency of a Fortune 200 Company. We are seeking an experienced Manager of Data Science to lead a team of 34 early to mid-career data scientists focused on generating actionable commercial insights and recommendations. This team will develop deploy and continuously improve data-driven recommendations delivered directly to commercial sales representatives through Salesforce.

Working at the intersection of business and technology youll partner with multiple teams to gather requirements conduct thorough analyses and implement operational improvements. Youll leverage advanced technologies including Machine Learning Natural Language Processing and Large Language Models to enhance data processes and create sophisticated algorithmic solutions. This position offers the opportunity to shape the future of data-driven decision-making while collaborating with shared services teams. The ideal candidate combines strong technical depth in modern data platforms (PySpark and MLFlow in Databricks AWS) with demonstrated people leadership business acumen and the ability to translate advanced analytics into measurable commercial impact.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead mentor and develop a team of 34 data scientists fostering technical excellence and business alignment
  • Provide clear prioritization performance management and career development guidance
  • Establish best practices in experimentation model development documentation and code review
  • Promote a collaborative results-driven team culture

Commercial Analytics & Recommendation Development

  • Oversee the design and development of predictive models optimization algorithms and recommendation systems
  • Translate commercial objectives into analytical solutions that drive measurable impacts to attributed revenue qualification rates and conversion rates
  • Ensure recommendations are scalable explainable and actionable for sales representatives
  • Partner with Project Management and Product Management to understand team and program priorities and align team performance to broader department goals
  • Work with Sales Marketing Commercial Operations and IT to refine use cases and ensure adoption

Platform & Technical Execution

  • Partner closely with Data Engineers to understand complex data landscape and help team navigate to find the right data sources
  • Guide development and deployment of solutions using Databricks and AWS
  • Ensure proper use of cloud- native tools and distributed data processing frameworks
  • Oversee data engineering collaboration to ensure reliable data pipelines and correct integration of data into models
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of SQL for data exploration transformation and validation
  • Drive model operationalization and integration into Salesforce workflows

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters or PhD in Data Science Statistics Computer Science Applied Mathematics or related quantitative field
  • 6 years of experience in data science including 13 years of people management experience
  • Proven experience leading data science teams delivering business- facing solutions
  • Hands- on experience with Databricks and AWS environments
  • Strong SQL proficiency and experience with Power BI
  • Experience deploying models into production environments
  • Demonstrated ability to translate analytics into commercial impact
  • Experience with version control / source code management systems (Git GitHub)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including an ability to communicate across people of varying technical and business acumen

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working within a B2B business environment desirable but not required
  • Experience building recommendation systems or sales optimization models
  • Familiarity with Salesforce data models and CRM workflows
  • Knowledge of MLOps best practices
  • Experience measuring adoption and impact of analytics solutions
