DescriptionMiddle School English Teacher
Tower Hill School seeks to hire a talented and energetic Middle School (Grades 5-6) English teacher to start in August 2026. The ideal candidate will have a strong Young Adult literature background middle or upper elementary experience and a commitment to teaching the skills of reading writing and critical thinking. Our new English Language Arts teacher will join other dedicated colleagues in a collaborative and stimulating environment. Tower Hills English Department is committed to teaching students how to articulate fully developed critical opinions both orally and on paper. The Department also promotes a life-long enjoyment of reading through the study of a variety of genres helping students understand their own identity in conversation with the diverse world that surrounds them. This is a full-time benefitted 10-month position.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Teach four sections of English Language Arts per semester
- The specific teaching assignment will be based on the background and specialties of the teacher as well as the needs of the department
- Participate in regular conferences with students parents and colleagues
- Engage in the design and development of curricular materials
- Serve as a student advisor
- Participate in faculty collaborations and meetings
- Assist with student supervision and chaperoning
QualificationsQualifications and Skills:
- English/reading teaching experience at the 3rd to 6th grade level (more than three years)
- Bachelors degree in English Education or related field
- Sensitivity to the developmental stages and well-being of children
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Strong communication skills both verbal and non-verbal
- Enthusiasm for professional growth academic excellence and creative teaching
- Ability to plan and organize educational content
- Commitment to broad participation in school life
- Experience in and commitment to the ongoing development and maintenance of an inclusive campus community
- Commitment to safeguard and promote the welfare of students
