Upward Bound Summer Academy Resident Assistant
Pay Rate
$1500.00-$1700.00 per six week session (based upon education and experience; free room and board during the duration of the program; all tickets hotel costs and entrée fees paid for on student trips.
Description
The Resident Assistant will live in the dorms during the duration of the Upward Bound Summer Academy and provide daily and nightly supervision of assigned students. This is a six-week job assignment beginning on June 7 2026 and ending on July 16 2026 with a week break from July 6 2026 to July 10 2026. The work week begins on Sunday afternoons at 4:00pm and ends on Thursday afternoons at 2:00pm. All meals are included in the campus cafeteria at no cost to you.
Responsibilities
- Supervise between 25-40 students during mealtimes free times on-campus activities off-campus activities and the 3-day overnight trip
- Report any social academic or personal student problems to either the Upward Bound Program Director and Academic Advisor
- Enforce program residence hall and college rules and regulations
- Monitor student behavior and provide appropriate feedback to the Program Director and Academic Advisor
- Develop a positive relationship with all program participants and staff as well as the staff on campus that you may interact with
- Provide assistance to program staff in dealing with emergencies problems and other situations
- Provide consistent and fair treatment to all project participants when exercising policy enforcement
- Monitor and report social or adjustment problems to program staff.
Requirements
- High school diploma
- Associates Degree or some college credit preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Outgoing personality
- Experience with TRIO programs or experience working with high school or junior high school students preferred
- Experience working in a residential hall setting and/or teaching experience preferred
- Experience assisting students with concerns related to academic financial vocational or social issues preferred
