System Test & Research Engineer Precision Agriculture
Work Location: Topcon Agriculture site Concordia sulla Secchia (Modena Italy)
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated System Test & Research Engineer to join our Precision Agriculture team. This role combines product testing technical analysis and development support with a strong focus on investigating system performance and contributing to product improvement.
The successful candidate will work in our local testing facility and will be involved in testing Topcons full range of Precision Agriculture solutions including GNSS receivers in-cab consoles/displays and electronic control units (ECUs).
In addition the role includes analyzing software and system behavior identifying improvement opportunities and providing technical insights and recommendations to R&D and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop test plans aligned with new product delivery schedules
- Create and maintain test procedures for new features and regression testing
- Execute product validation and verification efficiently
- Analyze system and software behavior identifying issues and proposing improvements
- Understand customer requirements and ensure products meet expectations
- Troubleshoot reported problems and support technical teams (sales customer support)
- Contribute to continuous improvement of lab and field testing capabilities
- Collaborate with Product Management R&D Engineering Production and Support teams
- Support development activities through technical feedback and system-level analysis
- Perform additional duties as required

Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Required:
- Knowledge of serial ISO CAN radio and machine-to-machine communication systems
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
- Ability to work in cross-functional and multicultural environments
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Hands-on approach including working with agricultural equipment
- Prior experience in product testing or development
- Ability to analyze software behavior and system performance providing technical feedback and improvement recommendations to engineering and R&D team
- Fluent in English
Desirable:
- Knowledge of precision agriculture practices
- Basic programming skills (for test tools or data analysis)
- Experience in the agriculture industry (12 years)
- Understanding of GNSS receivers and basic control theory
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Electrical Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering
- Valid drivers license
- 12 years of relevant experience or internships in Precision Agriculture or related fields
- Training or facilitation skills are a plus
Additional Information:
- Most of the job will be performed in an outdoor environment in and around agricultural equipment. There will also be some testing completed in a lab environment and documentation completed on a PC in the office.
- Domestic and International travel likely to be required
- Meeting outside of normal business hours will likely be required
