Position Overview

Shaw Industries is seeking a Reliability ElectricianIVto trainand mentorreliabilityelectricians 1-3 ensuring they have the necessary skills to perform their duties installationrepairand maintenance of electrical systems.

Use of testing devices to troubleshoot electrical issues andinspectvarious electrical components.Maintainand upkeep equipment as assigned andparticipateinroot causeanalysis ofmachineryfaultsidentifythe necessary steps to correct thefaults andmakerepairsandparticipatein finding solutions toeliminatefuture recurrence of thefaults.

EssentialKnowledge:

  • National Electrical Code (NEC)

  • Canlocateand access the NEC US the standard for safe electrical installations aiming to safeguard people and property from electrical hazards and is enforced by state or local laws

  • Control Components

  • Demonstrate calibration process of an analog flow sensing device according to the manufacturers specifications

  • Electrical Motors

  • Describe how a servo motor works.

  • Describe how a stepper motor works.

  • Human Machine Interface

  • Connect communications and install the HMI IP address.

  • Install or download HMI programs.

  • Back up HMI programs

  • Process Controls

  • Demonstrate ability to set up process controls (Flow)

  • Demonstrate ability to set up process controls (Level)

  • Demonstrate ability to set up process controls (Temperature)

  • Demonstrate ability to set up process controls (Pressure)

  • Programmable Automation Controllers (PAC)

  • Demonstrate the ability to create and use Instructions with Symbolic or tag addressing Ladder Logic

  • Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret for troubleshooting Ladder Logic.

  • Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret for troubleshooting Function BlockDiagrams

  • Robotics

  • Describe anddemonstrateresetting therobotspath when it has stopped

  • PM robot

  • Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems.

  • Demonstrate battery replacement

  • Demonstrate resetting rev counters

  • Demonstrate changing axis offsets for changes in cell

  • Repair or replace broken wiring on end arm tooling

  • Safety Circuits & Components

  • Identifywithin your facility a category 1 safetycomponent

  • Identifywithin your facility a category 2 safetycomponent

  • Identifywithin your facility a category 3 safetycomponent

  • Identifywithin your facility a category 4 safetycomponent

  • Test Instruments

  • Demonstrate the operation of a Process Meter to include sinking andsourcing

  • Describe the purpose of the basic oscilloscope.

  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of an oscilloscope

  • Demonstrate the safe operation of an oscilloscope.

  • Demonstrate the safe operation of a voltage detector. (Tic-Tracer)

  • Describe the purpose and practical use of a Portable Data Logger

  • VariableFrequencyDrives

  • Demonstrate Sizing a drive for an application for a given motor

  • Non-Equipment Related Tasks:

  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisor or plant management.

  • Attend all required meetings (first day back safety training etc.)

  • ATD (Attention to Detail) General housekeeping tomaintaina clean and safe work environment.

  • General Plant Repairs (Bathroom Office Breakroom Parking Lot Painting Roof Etc.)

  • CMMS Work Order Accuracy

  • Will ensure that all upkeep and repairs to asset/equipment will be documented in the CMMS (Sharp) system.This will include labor and materials used to complete needed tasks

  • Will meet set goals that include KPIs that will improve efficiency downtime reductions with a distinction of process and equipment related downtime

  • Will provide training to other technicians asrequired

  • Must completeDOSToolactivities tocurrentpay level.Must complete higherDOSToolactivity levels asrequired.

  • Critical Skills

  • Must be able toparticipatein root cause analysis of equipment failuresassistinginidentifyingthe root causes of problems.

  • Must be able toassistin implementation of solutions to resolve equipment failures preventing recurrences.

  • Basic math skills are essential

  • Must be able tooperatea PIT (Fork/Squeeze) or willing to learn

  • May betooperateaerial lift

  • PreviousMechanical Equipment Repair/Upkeep Experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to walk up and downstairs.

  • Must be able to sitstandor walk for the majority ofshift.

  • Must be able to lift push pull and carry loads of up to 50 pounds withoutassistance.

  • Must be able to bend stoop squat grasp and reachfrequently.

  • Must be able to work with hands/armsextended overhead.

  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders repeatedly.

  • Must be able tooperatehand and power tools and equipment.

  • Must be able to work inelevatedenvironment (ladders lifts baskets etc.) for extended periods of time.
