The UW Medicine-Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology(DLMP)in Seattle WA has a fantastic opportunity for aClinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 1with theImmunology Teamat the University of Washington Medical Center Montlake.
CLT 1s are the critical first line in the Immunology lab. Theyaccessionand process all the specimens answer phone calls keep track of pending monitors and review orders in the Laboratory Information System and Electronic Health Record.

Whatyoullcontribute:
Understand calibrate operate troubleshoot and perform routine and emergency maintenance of laboratory instruments listed below and related equipment as appropriate: pH meter balances centrifuges pipette
Make and organize reagents according to protocol.
Maintain chemical inventory and SDS records. Prepare containers for chemical waste monitor the waste volume and arrange for disposal.
Is responsible for ordering of supplies renewing standing orders and service contracts and monitoring of non-reagent supply inventory. Receives and stores supplies as they down overdue shipments. Communicate with inventory techs about the status of orders.
Monitor freezer and refrigerator freezers refrigerators waterbaths and incubators as needed.
Monitor compressed gas cylinders replacing as needed.
Prepare and process samples for transport and/or testing.
Exhibits working knowledge of laboratory computer systems including but not limited to the laboratory information system (LIS) PurchasePath MediaLab Excel and Word.
Perform work accurately precisely and meet completion deadlines through efficient workload independently and handle heavy workloads calmly and efficiently.
Locate missing samples resolve ordering problems/questions credit testing as samples needed by other sections or for research testing.
Helps maintain sample storage.
Answers the telephone and retrieving recording telephone to inquiries concerning patient lab values reference ranges specimen requirements procedures time required for tests.
Create maintain and organize records that are thorough accurate and legible.
Support the Prenatal Risk Screening program by contacting sending locations for missing information reminders test cancelations notification of abnormal results and organizing paperwork.
Login proficiency testing samples and store them after testing is completed.
Store archive and retrieve laboratory working notebooks for assays and QC records.
May perform phlebotomy.
Member of the division Safety Team and supports the work of the division Safety Representative.
Perform data processing and clerical tasks as required.
Perform the work of a clinical Laboratory Assistant.
Perform related duties as required.
Whatyoullneed:
High school graduation or equivalent AND one (1) year of chemical clinical or public health laboratory experience.
OR
Completion of a laboratory assistant course approved by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license certification and/or registration.
