Heavy Duty Mechanic

CEDA is currently hiring 1 Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic for our town shop in Bonnyville. This is a full time position open to candidates local to the Bonnyville region or willing to relocate.  

Willing to consider 3rd or 4th Year Heavy Duty Apprentice

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Preventative maintenance on Vacuum trucks Combos Water Trucks Tankers Skid-steers and Pressure Trucks
• Ongoing diagnostic and repair of diesel engines after treatment/emissions hydraulic systems and pumps
• Troubleshoot issues inspect equipment and replace or repair defective parts
• Interpret work orders
• Occasionally attend service calls in the field
• Work alongside apprentices and assist in their development  
• Attend daily tool box and safety meetings as scheduled
• Other duties as assigned

Role Specifications

• Heavy Equipment Technician Journeyman required
• or registered 3rd or 4th year Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic
• Valid Class 5 license with no more than 5 demerits in the last 3 years is required
• Class 1 or 3 license considered an asset
• Experience in hydraulic electrical and pump systems is an asset
• Experience troubleshooting emission system issues using diagnostic software (typically Cummins) is an asset
• Able to provide a negative pre-employment drug and alcohol test
• Able to provide your own tools

Skills

• Youre happiest working in a team and getting the job done safely as well as working independently on various projects in the shop
• Your knowledge of T&E pumps and Cummins CAT and Paccar engines would set you up for success
• Youre meticulous you have no problem completing the required paperwork for projects and jobs
• Tech savvy enough to work the diagnostics
• Good communication skills enjoy doing precision work and solving problems
