Job Summary
AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Electrical Engineer to be based in the Detroit MI office.
This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2026.
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.
- Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
- Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
- Prepare engineering-related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids.
- Research and apply building code regulatory and industry code requirements.
- Prepare electrical design calculations and utilize electrical design software.
- Work under the supervision of a mid or senior-level team member.

Our Buildings Places practice includes architecture interiors building and system engineering urbanism and planning (including landscape design) strategy economics technology solutions asset advisory and cost and program management. This diverse team assists our clients from strategy through project realization creating positive outcomes for those who occupy and use the buildings and environments we help to create. Our Michigan studio focuses on the Commercial/Corporate Science and Technology Higher Education and Federal market sectors. We look to combine beauty sustainability resiliency equity and innovation in our projects and believe these values can be instilled in any project regardless of size or budget.
Some of our recent projects include the Shell Technology Center Campus Revisioning the City of Chicago Joint Public Safety Training Campus the Illinois Autonomous and Connected Track and a new corporate global headquarters. Our Chicago studio also designs all the AECOM offices nationally.
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Valid U.S. Drivers License required to visit project sites clients and other AECOM offices.
- As a condition of employment selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Applications (Word Excel Outlook PowerPoint).
- Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally to all AECOM partner and client office locations including project offices if applicable.
- Ability to perform site investigations and walk-downs in high-voltage substations and along electrified railroads.
- Power System courses and interest in Power System Design.
- Ability or willingness to learn how to utilize CAD/BIM software (AutoCAD MicroStation Revit).
