Position Summary

Supports the day-to-day upkeep of facilities by performing basic maintenance and minor repairs including electrical plumbing HVAC and general building tasks. Conducts routine inspections helps keep workspaces clean and safe and responds to maintenance requests. Assists with vendor coordination tracks supplies and expenses and supports facility projects to ensure smooth and safe operations.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs minor repair of all buildings and equipment. (Major repairs are performed under the supervision oflicensedcontractors hired byAssociate Director of Facilities.
  • Minor paintingcarpentryand masonry work ( minor locksmithing pest exclusionetc)
  • Minor HVAC work ( andreplacingthermostats; replacing filtersetc)
  • Minor electrical maintenance ( of ceiling and wall fixtureswall switches and outlets bulbs and tubes ballast sockets fuses minor appliances cords etc.)
  • Minor plumbing maintenance ( of leaks in drains and faucets unclogging of drains replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices etc.)
  • Reconfiguration of officespace ( offurniturere-configuration of modular cubiclesfile cabinets etc.)
  • Maintains fire safety systems including fire extinguishers smokedetectorsand ensures office safety.
  • Obtain estimates for supplies repair parts; orders parts as needed.
  • Inspects buildings to detect malfunctions and needed repairsmaking notes and recommendations using a pre-established check sheet.
  • Assistsinmaintainingcleantidyand professionalwork spaces.
  • Responds to emergency maintenance requests asrequired.
  • Performs outside custodial duties such as snowremovalgroundsmaintenanceasrequired.
  • Manage and review service contracts to ensure facility management needs are being met
  • Conduct and document regular facilities inspections (daily weekly monthly)
  • Monitor and track variable operating expenses related to maintenance repairs and supplies
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and industry codes
  • Oversee contractors and vendor relationships and ensuring all vendor documentation (COIs) are up to date and on file
  • Oversee all capital improvements or refurbishments for each location with the support from theAssociate Director of Facilities.
  • Perform other duties as needed


Qualifications:

  • Education Training and Experience: Any combination of education training and experience whichdemonstratesabilityto perform the duties and responsibilities as described including related work experience in one or more of the building trades.
  • Knowledge of: Methods used in maintenance including basic knowledge of the following trades: carpentry plumbing painting masonry groundskeeping appliance repair and electrical wiring; standard practices and tools used in the maintenance and repair of building facilities; safety practices and procedures related to the building trades; basic mathskills.
  • Skill and Ability to: Effectively use a variety of hand and power tools; read blueprints; review and identify projects needed to be serviced by outside contractors; follow oral and/or written instructions; communicate effectively in both oral and written form; maintain work logs; establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work assignments.
  • Superior ability in assessing and fulfilling staff needs.
  • Must have a valid drivers license transportation(ability to travel to all facilities answer after hours emergency calls)
  • Excel Word Outlook experience

Compensation for this role is $27.47/hr
