Job Summary

Project Manager/Scrum Master Richmond VA (Hybrid)

Complete Description:

The Project Manager/ Scrum Master will operate as a Servant Leader and facilitator for 2-3 Agile teams ensuring the effective implementation of Scrum and Kanban principles. The successful candidate will be a strong negotiator have excellent logic and problem-solving skills and a drive to make a difference. We need an individual who puts the team before themselves. They will be responsible for enforcing the rules of Scrum removing impediments from their team while promoting self-management and consistently driving a culture of continuous improvement.

Liaison & Communication

  • Serve as liaison between technical and non-technical departments.
  • Communicate with other management developers product owners and technical support specialists on product issues.
  • Coach the team on best practices (maintaining a healthy backlog develop high quality user stories estimating and delivery)

Development

  • Organize and facilitate project planning daily stand-up meetings reviews retrospectives sprint and release planning demos and other Scrum-related meetings.
  • Track and communicate team velocity and sprint/release progress.
  • Maintain process documentation.
  • Ensure the team members are practicing the core agile principles of collaboration prioritization team accountability and visibility.

Application Support

  • Assist as needed with backlog maintenance and reviewing the quality of user stories.
  • Assist with internal and external communication improving transparency and radiating information.
  • Assist with prioritization and resolution of defects/bugs.

Management

  • Participate proactively in developing and maintaining teamwork agreements standards and tools.
  • Develop and manage Team performance metrics leverage to drive efficiencies in the process.
  • Identify and remove impediments prevents distractions.
  • Facilitate discussion and conflict resolution.
  • Empower the team to self-organize.

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification

  • Four-year college diploma or university degree in computer systems design or computer science and/or 10 years of equivalent work experience.
  • Must be a Certified Scrum Master
  • Scaled Agile (SAFe) experience and certification is a plus

Knowledge & Experience

  • Scrum Master or Business Analyst experience is preferred.
  • Understanding of agile software development methodologies values and procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle.
  • Understanding of the organizations development platform and languages.
  • Ability to understand technical issues.
