Job Purpose:

The overall purpose of this job is to support the delivery of engaging nature-based learning experiences through the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens Children & Families programming.

As the Children & Families Coordinator you will work closely with the Learning Manager to coordinate daily operations for youth and family programming including the Gardens S.E.E.D. Camp (Summer Exploration Engagement and Discovery) program. The coordinator ensures programs run smoothly by organizing logistics preparing materials supporting educators and staff and creating welcoming and engaging experiences for program participants.

This position contributes to the Gardens mission to explore discover and engage people in the critically important world of plants while strengthening community connections through nature-based education.

Key Responsibilities:

Accountability

  1. Coordinate the delivery and daily logistics of Children & Family programs including STEM learning activities registration support materials organization and setup for camps and related programs.
  2. Ensure program environments are safe organized and welcoming for children families staff and volunteers.
  3. Assist the Learning Manager in maintaining program budgets by tracking expenses managing supply purchases and supporting cost-effective program delivery.
  4. Collect and organize attendance evaluation feedback and event reports to support assessment of Children & Family programs.

People Management/Interactions

  1. Coordinate onboarding scheduling and daily support for facilitators seasonal staff interns and volunteers assisting with Children & Family programs.
  2. Serve as a point of contact for program staff during program delivery helping communicate schedules expectations and logistical needs.
  3. Build positive relationships with children families educators volunteers and community participants to support meaningful engagement with Garden programs.
  4. Collaborate with internal departments and contribute to meetings training and planning efforts supporting Children & Family programs and events.

Communication

  1. Coordinate preparation and distribution of program communications while maintaining clear communication with staff volunteers and facilitators regarding schedules and program logistics.
  2. Represent the Learning & Engagement team in day-to-day interactions with program participants and families providing clear and welcoming information about Children & Family programs.



Qualifications

Competencies: Knowledge and Skills required:

  • Experience supporting youth programs camps environmental education programs or informal learning environments.
  • Experience supporting youth programs camps environmental education programs or informal learning environments.Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple programs and schedules simultaneously.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children families educators and community partners.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite and other tools for scheduling communication and program tracking.
  • Ability to work effectively in dynamic environments and adapt to changing program needs.

Additional Job Requirements:

  • Every FWBG employee is expected to possess and be willing to use a mobile device for timekeeping and business communications via calls/texts/emails/Teams messages.
  • Be adaptable and flexible to changing schedules including occasional weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to support and participate in FWBG public exhibitions and events.
  • Maintain a current Texas Drivers License and auto-related liability insurance.
