SUMMARY:

The mathematics teacher is responsible for delivering standards-aligned instruction grounded in clear learning goals varied instructional approaches and meaningful opportunities for critical thinking while using ongoing assessment and feedback to support student growth. The teacher fosters a collaborative inclusive classroom culture and implements equitable culturally responsive practices to ensure all students have access to rigorous learning. Through data-informed instruction and collaboration with colleagues the teacher supports continuous improvement and high levels of achievement for every learner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSILBILITES:

    1. Plan and deliver standards-aligned instruction with clear shared learning goals and success criteria.
    2. Design learning experiences that promote critical and creative thinking using varied methods materials and representations to meet diverse learner needs.
    3. Use ongoing assessment progress checks and timely feedback to monitor student learning and adjust instruction.
    4. Foster a collaborative inclusive classroom culture that supports student discourse engagement and risk-taking.
    5. Differentiate instruction to ensure equitable access and high expectations for all students including students with disabilities and multilingual learners.
    6. Implement equitable and culturally responsive practices that reflect and honor the diversity of the student population.
    7. Collaborate with colleagues including special education and English learner staff to support student learning.
    8. Use instructional strategies and technology to enhance student engagement confidence and independence.
    9. Use data to inform instruction and maintain appropriate records of student progress.
    10. Engage in ongoing professional learning reflection and collaboration.
    11. Support students in meeting district and state assessment expectations (e.g. MCAS).
    12. Uphold district policies ensuring equal educational opportunity for all students.
    13. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.

DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE:

  1. Demonstrated strong mathematical content knowledge from Math 8 through Calculus including Statistics and Financial Reasoning with experience teaching Precalculus.
  2. Demonstrated experience delivering instruction grounded in clear learning goals varied approaches and ongoing assessment and feedback.
  3. Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction to support diverse learners and maintain appropriate rigor across academic and honors courses.
  4. Demonstrated a commitment to equitable inclusive practices that ensure all students access meaningful and challenging mathematics.
  5. Demonstrated experience working with high school students and collaborating with colleagues to support student learning.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Masters degree preferred
  • Massachusetts DESE High School is a grade 8-12 school. Applicants for this position should be certified to teach all grade levels.
  • SEI Endorsement
  • Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI) and fingerprints

SUPERVISES: Aides assistants and volunteers as assigned by building principal

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Hudson School Committees policy on evaluation or in accordance with union contract.

While performing duties of this job the employee may often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time. The employee will have also have ample periods of standing and may be required to traverse throughout the building. The employee must frequently use hands and frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e. calculator copy machine and computer printer). Physical abilities may also include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling stooping/crouching reaching/handling talking/hearing conversations and near/far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field. Ability must be able to lift and/or push and pull 15 to 20lbs for short periods and walk up and down stairs several times a day. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students staff members and the public in person and on the telephone.
