Job Summary
Test Software Engineer AR Prototypes
Location: Redmond WA (Onsite)
Duration: 6 Months Contract
Position Overview
A leading technology organization is seeking a Test Software Engineer to support development and testing of Augmented Reality (AR) prototype devices.
This role involves hands-on work with hardware and software systems focusing on troubleshooting automation and integration testing across Android and Linux-based environments.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot Android and Linux-based prototype devices using:
ADB
Serial consoles
Log analysis tools
Develop and maintain Python-based tools for:
Calibration workflows
Integration testing
Device bring-up processes
Collaborate with hardware firmware and systems engineering teams to diagnose and resolve issues across the full technology stack.
Perform deep debugging and root cause analysis for system-level issues.
Support testing and validation of AR prototype systems.
Required Qualifications
13 years of experience (or equivalent internships/projects)
Strong experience with:
Python (scripting automation basic data processing)
Linux environments (command line SSH basic system administration)
Hands-on experience working with physical hardware/devices
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
Must-Have Skills
Python scripting and automation
Linux command-line proficiency and system usage
Strong debugging mindset with focus on root cause analysis
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Android devices (ADB logcat shell commands)
Familiarity with 6DoF robotic systems
Experience with modern C
Exposure to AR/VR devices or embedded systems
Experience with version control systems such as Git Buck or Mercurial
Work Environment
100% Onsite role in Redmond WA
Hands-on interaction with prototype hardware devices
Collaborative cross-functional engineering environment
