Fulton Hogan is proud to have acquired the NZTA Integrated Delivery Contract (IDC) for Manawatū-Whanganui taking responsibility for the majority of state highway maintenance and renewals across the region. Join our dedicated team and help deliver high-quality efficient road services that keep communities connected and safe all while working in a supportive and rewarding environment.
As TTM Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring traffic is managed safely and efficiently around roadworks maintenance activities and events that affect the network. You will assess work sites to understand risks to road users workers pedestrians and cyclists considering factors such as speed environment traffic volumes nearby intersections and surrounding land use. You will provide practical advice on how works should be staged when they should occur (for example night works or offpeak periods) and what traffic management arrangements are needed to keep people safe while enabling the project to progress.
In addition to the above you will:
Coordinate traffic management crews and subcontractors to ensure correct setups are implemented on site and maintained to the required standard
Brief crews on safety and compliance requirements
Work closely with department managers and NZTA
Liaise with emergency services and public transport operators where needed
Respond to issues that arise in the field such as unexpected congestion incidents or weather changes
Support monitoring and audits of temporary traffic management operations
Drive continuous improvement to lift safety and efficiency across all temporary traffic management activities

Were looking for someone with:
A recent Civil Engineering degree diploma or previous relevant industry traffic management qualifications and experience
Experience in temporary traffic management roadworks or civil infrastructure
Strong understanding of road safety traffic behaviour and TTM standards
Ability to assess work sites and identify risks for all road users
Experience planning or advising on staging and timing of works (e.g. night or off peak)
Proven ability to coordinate traffic management crews and subcontractors
Strong focus on safety compliance and continuous improvement
Effective communicator with key stakeholders (managers NZTA emergency services public transport)
Solid problem-solving skills to respond to onsite issues and changing conditions
