Who Youll be Joining:

Our hive headquartered in Toronto is looking for aStaff Product Managerto lead ourEnergy Devicesportfolioowning the product direction forecobeesSmart Thermostats and SmartSensors and helping us extend intofuture energy devicesover time.

You will bring extensive experience shipping hardware products at scale and partner closely withHardware Engineering Firmware Engineering Manufacturing QualitySupply Chain & Operations andgo-to-market stakeholdersto deliver devices that are differentiated reliable andmeet customer a senior product leadersetting strategy defining what we build and why and driving crisp decisions across complex technical and operationaltrade-offs.

At ecobee Product Managers are expected tooperateasbuilders storytellers and stewards of the business: we stay deeply connected to customer needs and delivery realities we clarify and communicate the value of whatwerebuilding and we take ownership for outcomes over the full product lifecycle.

This role follows a hybrid schedule with in-office work required on Wednesdays and Thursdays to support collaboration and flexibility to work remotely for theremainderof the week.

HowYoullMake an Impact:

As a Staff Product Manager at ecobee you will:

  • Own theproduct strategy and roadmapforecobeesEnergy Devices portfolio balancing customer value business outcomes and technical feasibility across Smart Thermostats SmartSensors and future energy hardware.
  • Lead end-to-endhardware product managementfrom discovery through launch and iterationdefining clear problems to solve crisp requirements and measurable success outcomes.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment acrosshardware firmware mobile manufacturing quality and operationssurfacing trade-offs early and making clear principled recommendations.
  • Partner with engineering to define and deliverdevice-level capabilities(e.g. sensing accuracy temperature compensation humidity adjustment latency) ensuring product decisions account for real-world performance and customersatisfaction.
  • Lead planning and execution formulti-channel launches including navigating complexity when a thermostat release includes bothretail and professional variants(e.g. feature deltas packaging/SKU implications channel readiness).
  • Ensure device programs meet requiredcertifications and complianceexpectations ( ENERGY STAR and other applicable requirements) integrating certification strategy into program plans and launch readiness.
  • Drive product decisions that improvesupply chain resiliency and cost control partnering with Operations and Supply Chain to manage BOM availability risk and long-term platform sustainability.
  • Define and managesuccess metrics(adoption activation reliability/quality signals returns/defects and customer satisfaction inputs) and use those signals to guide post-launch iteration and portfolio decisions.
  • Embodyecobeesexpectation that PMs arebuilders storytellers and stewardsstaying close to delivery clarifying product value and narrative and owning end-to-end outcomes across the lifecycle.

WhatYoullBring to the Table:

  • 10 yearsof product management (or equivalent) experience withsignificant hardware device experience including multiple shipped products from concept through launch and lifecycle ownership.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead acrosshardware engineering firmware engineering manufacturing quality supply chain and operationswitha track recordof shipping through complex dependencies.
  • Deep experience runninghardware product development and launch processes including requirements definition risk management and decision-making across performancecost schedule and quality.
  • Experience owning products that requirecertifications/compliance(e.g. UL/CSA ENERGY STAR)andpartnering effectively to plan and execute certification workstreams without compromising delivery.
  • Strong customer and market instincts paired with technical credibilityable to translate real customer needs into clear product direction and engineering-ready requirements.
  • Strong analytical thinking and judgment: you define success metrics interpret product/quality signals and use structured decision-making to drive outcomes.
  • Senior leadership and influence: you align stakeholders communicate clearly to mixed audiences and raise the bar for product thinking and execution.
  • As a self-starter and natural leader you are comfortable with ambiguity and will take a position or engage in a tough conversation to drive your business forward.

Interview Process:

  • Round 1: 30-minute phone/video call with a member of our Talent Acquisition team

  • Round 2: 45-minute virtual interview with the Hiring Manager to assess background product experience and overall fit for the role

  • Round 3: 60-minute virtual interview with the Cross Functional team to evaluate technical depth and collaboration skills

  • Final: 90-min case study presentation with the leadership team to review strategic thinking product vision and problem-solving approach

Generac is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role based in Toronto Ontario Canada is between $156400 CAD - $211100 CAD. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates relevant work experience skills certifications and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short-term and long-term incentives.
