The role

As the NZECP34 Proximity Engineer youll play a key role in protecting public safety and maintaining the integrity of Vectors electricity network. Sitting within Field Services this specialist role is responsible for assessing proximity risks around overhead lines reviewing thirdparty engineering submissions and making technical compliance decisions under NZECP34 including whether Close Approach Consents should be approved or declined.

Youll manage a dedicated NZECP34 enquiries inbox validate engineering calculations and communicate clear wellreasoned decisions to customers builders scaffolders engineers and council stakeholders. The role balances detailed engineering judgement with structured processdriven work and regular stakeholder engagement within statutory timeframes.

Youll be working at the forefront of how NZECP34 is applied across New Zealand as it becomes increasingly embedded in building consent and regulatory processes while developing a highly specialised and indemand skill set with future growth potential.

Who are we looking for

• Strong engineering capability with the ability to interpret assess and challenge engineering reports and calculations relating to NZECP34
• A sound understanding of the electricity distribution industry ideally gained within an EDB or an engineering consultancy working closely with EDBs
• Indepth practical knowledge of NZECP34 including making compliance decisions and assessing Close Approach Consents
• Ability to manage detailed processdriven work while communicating technical decisions clearly to a wide range of stakeholders
• An engineering qualification or relevant electrical background with openness to building deeper technical expertise in this specialist area.
