Paleontology Student Summer Intern

Job Summary
- Execute collection inventories and move specimens under guidance of Paleontology Staff.
- Reorganize paleontology specimens and keep detailed inventories of their new locations and destinations.
- As part of the rehousing process make custom cavity mounts for paleontology specimens.
- Under guidance from Paleontology Department staff prepare fossil material in the SMM Paleontology Lab.
- Assist in planning and logistics to arrange fieldwork.
- Communicate the results of the project at public events and potentially at a professional conference.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Potential volunteer opportunity to participate in paleontological fieldwork in Montana and/or North Dakota (requires overnight stay potentially camping). Travel expenses would be covered by SMM.
Education: Current enrollment in an undergraduate (2 or 4 year) degree program in a related field such as paleontology geology biology or museum studies with two years of coursework or equivalent experience completed by the start of the position is required.
