Dispensing Optician
Job Summary
As a qualified Dispensing Optician you will be providing a high level of customer care and expert advice to make a real difference to our customers and keep them coming back. You will work in one of our stores reporting to the Store Manager.
Key responsibilities
- Providing clinical support in store for regulated dispensing
- Inspiring your Optical team by sharing your knowledge to offer the very best service.
- Listening to the needs of customers and offer expertise and advice.
- Helping our customers to choose the correct eyewear and offer guidance to ensure our customers receive the best product suited to their needs.
- Supporting the team to deliver an efficient model day and operational processes to ensure that the business trades legally.
- Providing expert knowledge for patients with more specialist requirements.
- Registered with the General Optical Council (GOC)
- Passion for your own learning and development completing all CPD training as part of the GOC requirement.

Need To Know
We have an exciting opportunity for a Dispensing Optician to join our Boots Opticians practice on English Street Carlisle on a full-time (37.5 hours) permanent basis.
We welcome applications from both newly qualified and experienced Dispensing Opticians with excellent opportunities for career development including CLO progression and Dry Eye training.
The practice:
3 testing rooms within a Boots UK store with Hearing Care
Equipped with OCT Optomap and 3 Phoropters
25-minute testing times
Recently refitted in 2024 offering a modern working environment
The team:
Youll be joining an energetic and supportive team of 9 including 2 resident Optometrists and a qualified Dispensing Optician all working together to deliver excellent patient care in a busy and varied environment.
Working pattern:
5 days per week on a rota basis
Flexibility required to work Saturdays and/or Sundays (not every weekend)
Occasional opportunity to support nearby stores in Penrith Kendal or Lancaster
About the area:
Carlisle offers excellent transport links with direct access to mainline train services and the motorway network. The store is centrally located with convenient parking available nearby (4 all day within 5 minutes) making commuting easy.
