About the Role:
To take room service orders accurately in a helpful friendly courteous and professional manner. To deliver and serve food and/or beverage items in a friendly courteous and timely manner resulting in guest satisfaction.
Essential Functions:
- Answers room service calls promptly announces any specials promotes menu items and answers questions regarding preparation methods.
- Documents orders and repeats items back to callers to ensure accuracy and quotes expected arrival time with speed and accuracy.
- Inputs order information immediately into Micros system allowing kitchen staff to begin preparation; noting any special requests clearly. Places order with Kitchen.
- Confirms orders are complete when picking them up including all food beverages and all condiments.
- Sets up trays to comply with Hilton standards including flower vase tray pick up card and mints.
- Answers calls for pick-up of trays and/or tables and directs busser to retrieve items.
- Maintains a clean and organized workstation and assists with breaking down trays.
- Responds to guest complaints in a positive manner negotiates a compromise and implements solution.
- Makes call backs to guest rooms after food is delivered to ensure total guest satisfaction.
- Carries trays up to 30 lbs. or pushes wheeled carts to deliver room service orders to guests in a friendly and courteous manner to ensure guest satisfaction. After setting up present check.
- Assists buss persons in removing trays and tables from guest floors and returning them to designated locations.
Supportive Functions:
In addition to performance of the essential functions this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions at the discretion of the manager based on the particular requirements of the hotel.
- Performs all assigned side work including but not limited to replenishing condiments and restocking side stands.
- Keeps track of wait staff to makes sure orders are being handled promptly.
- Performs general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by supervisor to adhere to health standards.
- Abides by all State Federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests to ensure all laws are being followed.
- Performs other duties as requested such as special guest requests.
Job Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
The individual must possess the following knowledge skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations service standards guest relations and etiquette.
- Knowledge of all menu items and accompaniments. Ability to remember recite and promote the variety of menu items.
- Basic knowledge of the English language sufficient to understand inquiries from customers and communicate preparation methods and the ability to comprehend written product labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products and processes within the hotel.
- Ability to operate a keyboard to input Point of Sale procedures to pre-check input order and close out the check.
- Ability to walk and stand for an extended period of time.
- Knowledge of the appropriate table settings service ware and menu items.
- Ability to transport up to 30 lbs. on a continuous basis.
- Ability to operate beverage and toast equipment.
Qualifications:
Education:
Any combination of education training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. High school diploma preferred.
Experience:
No prior experience required. Prior hospitality experience preferred.
Licenses and Certificates:
Ability to obtain any government-required licenses or certificates.
