About aac
The aac Academy for Architectural Culture is a private non-profit organization located in Hamburg and founded by the architects von Gerkan Marg and partners. With research studies and intensive courses held throughout the year the aac is dedicated to finding solutions to relevant architectural issues and the further education of young architects from different cultures.
In workshops we bring together young architecture students and graduates from all over the world in order to develop solutions for future-relevant architectural tasks together. The participants are constantly supported by partners from the architecture office gmp and tutors from architectural practice. Well-known architects and experts contribute their knowledge in lectures and guest critiques.
About the aac Spring Workshop
The aac Spring Workshop will take place between 10 February and 05 March 2027.
Applications will be accepted until 10 December 2026.
In workshops we bring together young architecture students and graduates from all over the world in order to develop solutions for future-relevant architectural tasks together.
In three and a half weeks (24 days) you will work intensively in four international groups of 4 students each (16 participants in total) on a contribution to a future-relevant architectural topic (4 designs in total). Supported by personal tutors and under the guidance of a gmp partner you can further develop your design in discussion rounds with renowned guest architects.
Application Requirements
To apply you must meet the following criteria and provide proof:
- You are studying architecture or have completed your studies within the last year (diploma masters degree or equivalent).
- Excellent design skills in architecture and urban design.
- Good CAD software skills (2D3D).
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Photoshop and InDesign.
- Fluent in English (speaking and writing).

About the gmp Foundation scholarship
aac candidates can apply for two main benefits. The first is the gmp Foundation scholarship which covers the tuition fees for the course in Hamburg and the excursion location including all working materials. The second is free accommodation in Hamburg (shared room) during the workshop period offered by aac.
