Basic Job Functions:
The role of the Environmental Engineer is to promote and sustain our culture of safety and environmental stewardship. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: interacting with the team to lead development growth and improvement of NSSEDs Environmental programs; compliance administration/responsibility with all regulatory permits licenses rules regulations and programs; taking a lead role in plant-wide Environmental project management sustainability efforts training and audits; and community outreach. Safety is the most importanty part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate lead and uphold safety policies practices procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent years of applicable experience

- Superb organization and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with teammates at all organizational levels
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Ability to analyze and think strategically
- Demonstrated ability and desire to manage and prioritize multiple projects successfully
- Highly motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
Preferences:
- Bachelors degree in environmental civil chemical engineering or related degree
- Environmental permitting and compliance experience in an industrial environment
- Working experience with regulatory agencies
- Experience with environmental management system development
- Proficient with computer programs including Microsoft Office & Teams Oracle SharePoint etc.
