A Quality Supplier Engineer expands the quality function by ensuring that all incoming materials and supplier processes meet company and customer requirements. Additional responsibilities include:
- Supplier Development & Qualification: Evaluate approve and develop suppliers through audits capability assessments and performance monitoring.
- APQP/PPAP Coordination: Lead suppliers in fulfilling APQP deliverables reviewing FMEAs control plans and validating process readiness.
- Process & Material Validation: Approve engineering changes support material testing and confirm compliance with technical specifications.
- Audit & Compliance Management: Conduct regular supplier audits and ensure adherence to ISO 9001 IATF 16949 and customer-specific standards.
- Risk Management: Perform risk assessments maintain supplier risk profiles and develop contingency plans for critical suppliers.
- Cost of Poor Quality Reduction: Analyze and reduce supplier-related scrap rework and downtime while ensuring cost recovery from nonconformances.
- Technical Collaboration: Work with Engineering and Procurement to support manufacturability design reviews and new component industrialization.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate PPAP records audit reports corrective actions and supplier performance dashboards.
- Continuous Improvement: Promote Lean/Six Sigma practices and provide training on supplier quality processes.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure supplier materials comply with environmental and regulatory requirements such as RoHS REACH and IMDS.
