Job Summary

The Terminal Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient transfer storage and handling of liquid products including chemicals petroleum and renewable products within terminal operations. This role supports activities involving marine vessels barges railcars trucks pipelines and storage tanks.

Operators monitor equipment performance perform inspections and maintenance support inventory management and ensure safe product movement throughout the facility. Depending on experience level the operator may also perform console operations coordinate field activities support operational reporting and assist in training other operators.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Safely load and unload marine vessels barges railcars and trucks.
  • Perform product transfers between tanks pipelines trucks and railcars including transloading operations such as truck-to-truck railcar-to-truck and truck-to-railcar.
  • Gauge tanks railcars and trucks and calculate product inventory by converting gross measurements to net values using API gravity temperature and volume correction factors.
  • Monitor terminal operations and equipment to ensure safe and efficient product movement.
  • Operate terminal equipment including pumps meters valves loading racks and dock equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections preventative maintenance and minor repairs on terminal equipment.
  • Complete operational logs inspection reports round sheets and operational documentation.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and ensure work areas remain clean and safe.
  • Participate in facility commissioning PHAs PSSRs and P&ID reviews when required.
  • Support emergency response procedures and participate in safety drills.
  • Respond to operational alarms or abnormal conditions and coordinate with supervisors and field personnel.
  • Assist with operational reporting and shift documentation as required.
  • Assist in training and mentoring other operators depending on experience level.
  • Respond to operational call-outs including barge loading or offloading activities when required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of terminal operations including liquid transfer systems storage tanks and loading facilities.
  • Working knowledge of pumps meters truck loading racks dock facilities and associated equipment.
  • Understanding of safety procedures including Job Safety Analyses hot work permits and general work permits.
  • Ability to interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
  • Basic math skills related to inventory measurement and product calculations.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with terminal operating systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe operations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow company policies procedures and regulatory requirements.

Education and Experience:

Terminal Operator I

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 02 years of experience in terminal pipeline marine or related operations preferred

Terminal Operator II

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 3 years of experience in terminal pipeline or marine operations
  • Demonstrated ability to perform operational duties independently

Terminal Operator III

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 5 or more years of experience in terminal pipeline or marine operations
  • Advanced knowledge of terminal equipment and operations
  • Experience with SCADA DCS controls or similar systems preferred
  • Ability to assist with operational coordination and operator training

Certifications:

  • Must obtain and maintain a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

  • Completion of required U.S. Coast Guard training to qualify as Dock Person-In-Charge (Dock PIC) when applicable.

Physical Demands and Hazard for Field Employees:

This position may require occasional travel to remote sites potential exposure to flammable material adherence to safety protocols compliance with operating regulations and will require rigorous physical demands.
