Position Summary
The Assistant University Counsel will report to the Senior University Transactions Counsel. This position will engage in broad transactional practice supporting the University in a variety of matters. The Assistant University Counsel will review draft and negotiate facilities use agreements releases internship and affiliation agreements non-disclosure agreements exhibition and performance/speaker agreements and revenue generating agreements. The Assistant University Counsel will also provide legal support as needed or assigned for services agreements IT and non-IT vendor agreements consulting arrangements equipment loans lease agreements collaborator agreements and executive search firm agreements. This position may also advise on business or policy issues related to their general transactional practice and will advise units on the development and management of templated agreements. The Assistant University Counsel collaborates with multiple University units to ensure compliance with applicable laws regulations and institutional policies while also contributing to the development and implementation of best practices in transactional matters.
Required Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Graduation from an accredited school of law. Be a licensed attorney in good standing in North Carolina or able to become one within one year of joining the University.
Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Transactional and/or contractual legal practice experience ranging from 1-4 years Experience working for a public agency or educational institution Knowledge of and experience negotiating information technology contracts. Ability to develop plans to accomplish unit objectives and requirements. Experience developing and/or managing templated agreements
