Role description:

We are seeking a Junior Geotechnical Engineer to support Site Due Diligence and (pre-)design services. The role contributes to Phase 1 desktop studies Phase 2 Geotechnical Site Investigations and Phase 3 design-ready geotechnical investigations. You will be part of the Iberian Resilience team and under the supervision of senior geologists and geotechnical specialists collaborate with local specialist subcontractors (drilling companies) and a pool of subject-matter experts across Arcadis in countries such as Germany the UK and France.

Role accountabilities:

  • Support Phase 1 desktop studies: gather and review geological hydrogeological and site history data; prepare baseline reports and risk assessments.
  • Assist in planning and execution of Phase 2 and Phase 3 Geotechnical Site Investigations: develop investigation scopes supervise fieldwork coordinate with drilling subcontractors and ensure health & safety and quality compliance.
  • Participate in Phase 3 design-ready investigations: help interpret laboratory and in-situ test results support in producing subsurface models and geotechnical design inputs for foundations earthworks and retaining structures.
  • Prepare clear concise technical reports drawings and data deliverables for clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Liaise with internal subject-matter experts across Arcadis Europe to obtain specialist input and ensure consistency of approach.
  • Support project and programme management tasks including cost tracking progress reporting and timely delivery.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of procedures templates and best practices.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Geotechnical Engineering Civil Engineering with geotechnical focus or related discipline. Masters degree preferred.
  • 03 years professional experience in geotechnical site investigation laboratory testing or geotechnical design.
  • Familiarity with geotechnical investigation methods soil/rock classification in-situ testing (e.g. SPT CPT) and standard laboratory tests.
  • Basic knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles and design practice.
  • Experience working with drilling subcontractors and supervising field teams is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish; additional European language skills (Dutch German or French) are beneficial.
  • Competency with geotechnical software (e.g. Plaxis GeoStudio) and standard office tools (Excel Word CAD) is desirable.

  • Strong analytical and report-writing skills; attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills; able to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and external suppliers.
  • Proactive collaborative mindset with willingness to learn from senior engineers and international experts.
  • Organised able to manage time and priorities on multiple projects.
  • Commitment to health safety and quality standards.
