Are you passionate about making a difference in childrens health We are now recruiting for a full-time ongoing Deputy Director Fundraising. Philanthropy plays a crucial role in improving childrens health and transforming the delivery of healthcare. The Royal Childrens Hospital Foundations Gift in Wills and Philanthropy (Major Gifts and Trusts and Foundations) Program aims to grow substantially over the next five years and generate significant donations through meaningful relationship management of philanthropic donors and families whilst ensuring donors feel valued and recognised.

Founded in 1989 the Royal Childrens Hospital (RCH) Foundation is the fundraising arm of the Royal Childrens Hospital one of the worlds leading childrens hospitals. The RCH Foundation has the vital role of raising and distributing donated funds to the hospital enabling the very best patient and family care and support and saving and improving the lives of our sickest children. While a legally separate organisation the RCH Foundation works closely with the RCH in achieving its vision.
The Role
The Deputy Director Fundraising is an exciting new and key leadership role within the Fundraising Department designed to lead the three teams associated with significant growth areas of our FY30 strategy which include Gift in Wills and Philanthropy (Major Gifts and Trust and Foundations). Additionally this role will take on a key leadership role supporting the Director Fundraising to set ambitious budgets that drive the organisation forward and lead all major fundraising campus precinct and future partner fundraising.
About You
- You are purpose driven and committed to the mission and values of the RCH Foundation.
- You have a minimum of 8 years of professional experience in Gift in Wills Estates and Philanthropy with a proven track record of success with specific experience in Philanthropy (Major Gifts and Trusts and Foundations) and fundraising including demonstrated success at securing major gift support such as a six-seven figure gift alongside a CEO or Fundraising Director.
- You have experience leading a Data Team whereby past experience can be utilised to create data-led strategies for donor acquisition in relation to the Gift in Wills or Major Gifts Programs and upskill teams to utilise the CRM to the best of their ability for high level donor management donor research and moves management.
- You have people leadership experience with the ability to mentor coach and lead a high-performing and accountable team.
- You have outstanding stakeholder and relationship management skills with a proven ability to build relationships with donors supporters and key stakeholders.
- You have knowledge of Melbourne Victorian national and international philanthropic communities that support health and the ability to optimise high level and key relationships ideally with experience working in a health or university setting.
- Ideally you have a degree qualification recognised fundraising qualifications and/or Executive Leadership training
- You have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and a CRM database preferably with a high level of computer literacy and proficiency with fundraising programs including Salesforce CRM experience.
- You are confident in your work but know when and how to consult others to keep work moving to achieve the best results and to avoid risk
- You have a commitment to personal development
Key Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated high performing fundraising leader with proven success working with major donors or blended giving and securing $100000 philanthropic gifts.
- Demonstrated experience in data management roles to enhance lead generation along with leading a team with proficient knowledge in utilising CRM donor journeys with moves management and automation.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and coaching a team as well as building and sustaining a team of high performers in line with the RCH Foundations growth mindset and strategy.
- Proven track record in designing and implementing fundraising strategies and operational plans.
- Sound understanding of moves management donor motivations and knowledge of the philanthropic landscape.
- Superb written and oral communication skills with experience communicating to a wide range of audiences including major donors trust and foundation donors corporate representatives senior staff board members and volunteers; as well as experience writing tailored donor proposals.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships model leadership behaviour and demonstrated success in dealing with donors including showing a high level of emotional intelligence and compassion.
- Demonstrated attention to detail working under own initiative to strict deadlines and managing accounts and projects simultaneously including strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated sophisticated relationship building and management skills with the ability to engage internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven track record of achievement and meeting stretch financial targets through ambitious and complex donor proposals.
- Demonstrated experience in achieving goals and KPIs both individually and collaboratively as part of a team
