The Electrical Engineer (EE) researches develops designs and tests electrical components and systems for use in logistics equipment and the addition to the technical aspects the engineer also effectively communicates and collaborates with a wide variety of other positions in the performance of the job.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the subject-matter expert for all facility electrical systems including power distribution panels breakers switchgear lighting backup systems and grounding.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues on conveyors sorters motors VFDs PLC-controlled equipment packaging machinery and automated material-handling systems.
- Partner with automation engineers and technicians to resolve recurring electrical faults.
- Understand and oversee electrical aspects of electrical utilities HVAC systems emergency lighting pneumatic systems fire protection.
- Routinely researches electrical/electronic components & systems for use in production or replacing obsolete field parts.
- Ability to read and design electrical schematics (AutoCAD or equivalent)
- Works with other Engineers and assists Designer/Drafters in developing the electrical design of products using drafting tools or Computer-Assisted Design (CAD) or other software.
- Maintains and/or creating electrical schematics.
- Creates technical instructions for field modifications or testing requests.
- Researches designs installs tests analyzes and maintains electrical products equipment systems and processes to meet requirements applying knowledge of engineering principles under the direction of other engineers.
- Works with Engineers to review customer design proposals specifications manuals and other data to evaluate the feasibility cost and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
- Confers with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures resolve system malfunctions and provide technical information.
- Investigate equipment failures and diagnose faulty operation and make recommendations that will efficiently resolve the issues.
- Actively works with and understands electrical schematics wiring diagrams wire tables and technical manuals. Make revision recommendations as required.
- Develops and oversees installation testing and maintenance procedures to ensure adherence to specs.
- Proposes technical mods to solve issues.
- Maintains department work standards and work instructions.
- Stays up to date on standards appliable requirement technology and the changing electrical practice.
Competencies
- Bachelor of Science Degree (BSEE/EET) with 3 years of relevant electrical experience in an engineering environment or Associate of Science Degree (ASEE) with 5 years of relevant electrical experience in an engineering environment.
- May travel nationally and internationally up to 5% as needed.
- Ability to complete and maintain NPFA 70E certification.
- Ability to maintain a valid drivers license and passport.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Experience in automated distribution centers (conveyors AS/RS robotics) desired.
- Familiarity with PLCs industrial automation or control panels is a plus.
