Job Summary

Position Summary
Gelfand Rennert & Feldman is seeking an Internal Tax Manager to join our team of dedicated professionals. This position can be based out of Century City on a hybrid basis. The Internal Tax Manager is responsible for consulting with Firm partners managers and staff on client tax issues and will also handle/assist with income tax audits.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide support to Staff Managers and Managing Directors by fielding tax questions conducting tax research and acting as subject matter expert
  • Assist in handling tax notices and income tax audits with Staff and Managers
  • Monitor new tax developments and provide guidance about them to the Firm
  • Limited review and possible preparation of moderate to complex multi-state tax returns (individual S corporation C corporation partnership estate and trusts)
  • Other projects and duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 6 years of well-rounded income tax experience ideally for clients in the entertainment space
  • Experience with HNW individuals and their multistate S corporations and partnerships
  • Ability to use research software (i.e. RIA CCH etc.) to conduct tax research and tax planning with minimal supervision and to prepare clear and concise answers to questions asked
  • Prior experience handling day-to-day tax questions monitoring tax law changes trends and guidance and sending tax updates to partners managers staff and/or clients
  • Prior experience handling federal and state tax correspondence
  • Prior experience conducting federal and state tax audits
  • Background familiarity with the entertainment industry (namely music film TV sports and fashion) is favored
  • Solid interpersonal skills and other key soft skills (i.e. critical thinking adaptability time management emotional intelligence active listening etc.)
  • Sense of urgency and demonstrated ability to follow through
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Commitment to professionalism discretion and accuracy
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Excel Word Outlook)

Required Education & Experience: Bachelors degree CPA license and 6 years of solid tax research and income tax audit experience

Preferred Education & Experience: MST or JD 8 years of experience in similar role familiar with RIA and CCH tax research services and CCH Axcess tax software

The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between$140000 - $175000. Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience subject matter expertise geographic location where work will be performed and the applicants skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
