We are seeking an experienced FinOps Specialist with deep expertise in AWS or GCP to lead cloud financial management and optimization initiatives across our cloud environments. This role will drive cost transparency governance and optimization while enabling engineering and business teams to maximize the value of cloud investments.
What will your job look like
- Design and implement end-to-end FinOps practices for AWS and/or GCP cloud environments.
- Perform detailed cost analysis using:
- AWS Cost Explorer
- AWS Cost & Usage Reports (CUR)
- GCP Billing & Cost Management tools
- Develop and maintain cloud cost dashboards reports and forecast models.
- Identify cost optimization opportunities across: Compute Storage Networking and Managed services
- Evaluate and manage Savings Plans Reserved Instances (RI) and GCP Committed Use Discounts (CUDs).
- Work closely with engineering teams to improve resource utilization and architecture efficiency.
- Establish governance frameworks for: Resource tagging Budget monitoring Cost allocation and Forecasting
- Implement automation for cost control and anomaly detection.
- Conduct monthly and quarterly FinOps reviews with business and technical stakeholders.
- Support financial planning and budgeting through accurate forecasting and usage insights.

Skills and Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors degree in computer science IT Engineering or related field
- Masters degree is a plus
Experience
- 3-5 years of AWS or GCP architect deep hands-on expertise
- 35 years of hands-on FinOps / Cloud Cost Management experience
Technical Skills
- Deep understanding of AWS or GCP services pricing models and billing structures
- Experience with FinOps lifecycle: Inform Optimize Operate
- Hands-on experience with:
- AWS Cost Explorer or GCP Billing & Cost Management
- AWS Cost & Usage Reports (CUR)
- AWS Budgets
- Expertise in RI Savings Plans and GCP Committed Use Discount strategies
- Experience with cloud cost governance and tagging strategies
- Strong data analysis and financial modeling skills
- Familiarity with multi-cloud cost management platforms (e.g. CloudHealth)
Tools & Automation
- BI tools (Power BI Tableau or Quicksight)
- FinOps platforms (CloudHealth Apptio etc.)
- Scripting/automation using Python
- Experience building cost dashboards and analytics pipelines
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management
- Ability to translate technical cloud usage into financial insights
- Strong collaboration with engineering finance and leadership teams
- Preferred Certifications
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect
- FinOps Certified Practitioner
- Azure or additional cloud certifications (optional but beneficial)
