Our services include security patrols safety escorts admits and responding to calls for HIGHLIGHTSCreate safety and security for patients visitors and staff at our regions only Level 1 Trauma center and safety net hospital Contribute to our mission to improve the health of the public by serving some of the most vulnerable residents of King CountySuccessful candidates will possess superior customer service skills offering support and understanding in dealing with patients staff faculty and visitors to the medical centerPRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESThe Security Officer works to maintain security and safety through inspection of buildings and groundsTactfully confront individuals and gain their trust for authority de-escalating anger to bring about satisfactory solutionsInvestigate incidents and crimes with the aptitude to complete clear concise and accurate incident reports and other documentationPatrol and inspect interior and exterior of facility on foot or in a vehicle. Respond promptly and safely to calls for assistance and code calls throughout UWMCEvict hold or detain persons when directed to do so by the appropriate law enforcement agency clinical or administrative authorityREQUIREMENTSHigh school graduation or equivalentPossess a valid drivers licenseNo previous felony convictionsTwo years full-time college in police science or allied field OR two years of police or campus security experienceABOUT HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTERAs the regions only Level I Trauma and verified burn center Harborview Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility owned by King County and operated by UW Medicine.
