Job Summary

Performs nursing assessment upon admission to Pre-op Holding. Performs comprehensive assessments as indicated per departmental standards and as identified in intra-operative documents and checklists. Reviews all avilable assessment data and incorporates into the overall assessment of patient in order to formulate nursing diagnosis. Recognizes and interprets abnormal vital signs symptoms and lab values and takes appropriate action. Assesses patients/Familys level of understanding of disease process hospitalization and surgical procedure. Interviews patient and family employing age-appropriate communication with consideration for cultural psychosocial and emotional factors.
