Job Summary

Purpose: Develop and implement manufacturing processes and systems that improve efficiency and productivity across Burr Oak Tool globally inclusive of our subsidiaries to ensure alignment with organizational goals for strategic market growth. Reports to the Vice President of Assembly.

Responsibilities: Quantifiable metrics to which a person is held accountable

  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes and systems to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Design and optimize manufacturing layouts equipment and workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth production operations.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve production issues.
  • Utilize robotics and automation technologies to streamline manufacturing processes.
  • Create and maintain documentation such as work instructions process specifications and engineering drawings.
  • Perform time studies and capacity analysis to optimize production schedules.
  • Support new product development and introduction by providing engineering expertise.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Complete effective employee reviews follow up with personnel on performance issues and understand and follow BOT processes and procedures.
  • Develop and seek positive relationships; actively participate in regular huddles and goal setting.

  • Essential qualifications and skills
  • Prefer bachelors degree in mechanical engineering industrial engineering or a related field or 10 years experience within the discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing principles processes and equipment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software designing manufacturing layouts and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications and Burr Oak Tools current ERP system.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis techniques to identify and resolve production issues.
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) for interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing principles and methodologies for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to work with welding processes and industrial equipment is preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Prefer previous supervisory and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to get along with and influence diverse personalities; tactful mature and flexible.
  • Ability to remain calm and determined to meet goals.
  • Documentation of a current drug screen must be provided prior to start date.
