Sr. Backend Software Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend components of a distributed reactive messaging-based system system using open-source technologies

• Write clean efficient code in Java and Scala while working with streaming frameworks such as Kafka and Akka Stream

• Build and deploy applications and components in a cloud-based environment (AWS)

• Work closely with QA to monitor and support mission-critical production systems worldwide

• Apply best practices for high-quality design coding and testing

• Understand the domain of cloud applications and cloud security to deliver robust solutions

• Contribute to the full product lifecycle from design to production ensuring scalability and reliability

• Work as part of a dynamic team facing complex engineering challenges

What Were Looking For

MustHave Skills

• Strong foundation in Computer Science and Engineering principles.

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on software development experience

• Proven track record in full product lifecycle development preferably SaaS or web-based systems

• Experience building scalable reliable and resilient distributed systems

• Expertise with Scala/Java and running JVM-based systems in production environments

• Strong understanding of streaming frameworks (Kafka Akka Stream)

• Familiarity with AWS services such as OpenSearch DynamoDB etc.

• Excellent communication skills in English (oral and written)

• Academic degree in a relevant technical field

Nice to Have

• Experience with additional programming languages (e.g. Python Go)

• Background in performance tuning and optimization for distributed systems

• Knowledge of microservices architecture and service mesh technologies

• Exposure to multi-cloud platforms (Azure GCP) beyond AWS

• Hands-on experience with advanced observability tools (Datadog ELK stack)

• Contributions to open-source projects or developer communities

• Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading technical initiatives

• Understanding of compliance frameworks (e.g. GDPR SOC2)

• Ability to thrive in a global multicultural team environment
