DMG is experienced in the installation and service of all types of commercial HVAC systems offering complete mechanical capabilities. We are one of the few contractors in the industry that offers complete in-house engineering and design capabilities in all three MEP -house engineering helps provide us with tighter control over project quality budgets and schedules.

Job Title: Estimator - This is an on-site position.

Job Summary: We are looking for a passionate detail-oriented entry level Estimator to join our team. This team member must be self-motivated courteous a team player dependable eager to learn accurate and thorough. The Estimator is responsible for collecting historical cost date consulting with clients vendors and personnel in various departments to discuss and formulate estsimates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future products.
Consult with clients vendors personnel in other departments or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning organizing and scheduling work.
Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time cost materials and labor estimates.
Confer with engineers architects owners contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
Review contract and bid documents; review and understand scope for project turnover
Attend walk-throughs pre-bid and scope clarification meetings
Quantitative take-off and computer entry
Prepare scope letters and proposals
Maintain relationships with customers General Contractors vendors and subcontractors
Coordinate efforts with the Engineering Department
May review design options and recommend the best solution based on cost engineering quality and/or availability of materials
Review quotes obtained from subcontractors for accurate scope of work as per plans and specs.
Ensure documents are centrally saved in the companys drive within the confidential estimating folder(s)
Assist project managers with takeoffs and pricing changes in work
Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Vice President of Preconstruction with recommendation for resolution.
Comply with all Company operating policies procedures and safety programs as established.
Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by executives.
Attend job walks team meetings and site visits.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must have knowledge of the appropriate codes and standards which govern design and operating requirements.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Must be able to handle confidential information.
  • Must be organized and able to prioritize tasks.
