General Notes

Texas Parents is seeking enthusiastic professional and outgoing student staff to support membership engagement during New Student & Family Orientation throughout the summer. These students will be the first point of contact for incoming Longhorn families helping them understand membership options complete registrations and receive their benefit materials.

This role is ideal for students who enjoy engaging with people thrive in a fastpaced environment and can quickly learn detailed processes.

Responsibilities

Orientation Engagement & Membership Support

  • Staff the Texas Parents Association table during all assigned Orientation sessions.
  • Welcome families and explain the purpose benefits and value of Texas Parents membership.
  • Assist parents with onsite membership registration and payment.
  • Distribute benefit packets and ensure families receive the correct materials.

Information & System Use

  • Learn and accurately explain all membership levels pricing benefits and deadlines.
  • Search and verify family information in the Texas Parents database.
  • Enter membership information and update records as needed.

Customer Service & Troubleshooting

  • Answer a wide variety of questions with confidence positivity and professionalism.
  • Identify and resolve basic issues such as duplicated accounts payment errors or missing benefits.
  • Escalate complex problems to fulltime staff when necessary.
  • Maintain a calm and helpful presence even during busy peak times.

Required Qualifications

  • Full-time student for the current Spring 2026 semester.
  • Be in good academic standing with a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA.
  • High energy and comfort interacting with large numbers of parents and families.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and a polished professional demeanor.
  • Ability to learn detailed membership processes and explain them clearly.
  • Reliable punctual and committed to working assigned Orientation dates.
  • Comfortable using digital systems searching databases and entering information accurately.

Work Schedule & Requirements

  • Must be available for the majority of New Student Orientation sessions (MayAugust).
    • Training will be May 19-21 (Tuesday through Thursday)
    • Orientation Schedule is as follows:
      • June 1 4
      • June 8 11
      • June 15 18
      • June 22 25
      • June 29 July 2
      • July 6 9
      • July 13 16
      • July 20 24 (Note that this includes Friday of this week)
      • August 17 19
    • Additional hours may be available July 27 through August 14.
  • Shifts are typically daytime and may require standing for extended periods.
  • 20-30 hours per week during the summer are expected for this position.
  • Class enrollment and other on-campus jobs are allowed on a case-by-case basis.
  • Work shifts may take place at multiple locations on campus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior customer service sales or event staffing experience.
  • Knowledge of UT Austin campus life and student experience.

Salary
$13 per hour

  • Lunch provided on working days Monday-Thursday.
  • Shift shirts will be provided.
  • May Training dates will be compensated at hourly rate.
