Job Summary

Northwest Specialty is seeking a compassionate patient-focused RN to join the Pain Management team!

Under the direction of the Nurse Supervisor the Registered Nurse will provide professional nursing care for an assigned group of patients across the age continuum. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment planning implementation and evaluation to direct or provide nursing care. This position will administer conscious sedation under the direction of a physician or CRNA and will care for patients who are receiving conscious sedation. This position will assess patients for appropriate intravascular device and monitor/assess patients receiving conscious sedation before during and after receiving conscious sedation. Duties will also include assisting the CRNA providers with pre-operative nerve blocks. Demonstrates knowledge of equipment instruments best nursing practices standards and protocols. The Registered Nurse will need to project a professional demeanor and appearance while maintaining the confidentiality of the Hospital patients and employees as appropriate. Able to work under pressure and in situations that demand patience tact stamina and endurance. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions and Qualifications:

  • Operates all required equipment and machinery accurately and safely.
  • Sets priorities to facilitate the timely and efficient flow of patents throughout the day.
  • Conducts an individualized patient assessment prioritizing the data collection based on the patients immediate condition or needs within timeframe specified by client facilitys policies procedures or protocols.
  • Start and monitor IVs administer pre-operative medications and explain patients rights and procedures.
  • Develops plan of care that is individualized for the patient reflecting collaboration with other members of the healthcare team.
  • Closely observing patients for signs of side effects of anesthesia medication.
  • Assists and maintains adequate ventilation hemostasis and circulation; assess level of consciousness provide pain management and ensure the safety of the patient.
  • Provides individualized patient/family education customized to the patient and his/her family.
  • Carry out physician/anesthesia orders.
  • Initiates emergency resuscitative measures according to resuscitation protocols.
  • Maintains confidentiality in matters related to patient family and facility staff.
  • Monitor patient vital signs to include interpretation of SpO2 & etCO2 during & post procedure.
  • Performs point of care CLIA Moderate testing accurately and safely.
  • Provides care in a non-judgmental non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to patient and familys diversity preserving their autonomy dignity and rights.
  • Maintains current competency in nursing specialty.
  • Employees are expected to comply with all regulatory requirements including Joint Commission Standards.
  • Is familiar with organization department and job specific Environment of Care areas including Life Safety Hazardous Materials Communications Emergency Preparedness Infection Control and Medical Equipment Failure.
  • Demonstrates eligibility for employment in the United States.
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Office Suite (Excel Word and Outlook).
  • Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills along with attention to detail. Must be highly organized and able to focus on task at hand.
  • Possesses critical thinking and analytic skills.
  • Understands medical terminology and quality improvement processes.
  • 2 years of nursing experience required.
  • Current RN licensure in the State of Idaho is required.
  • Current AHA BLS.
  • ACLS Certification within 6 months of employment.
  • Bachelors degree in nursing or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous sedation nursing experience is preferred.
