Job Description:
Major sections of the Division of Anatomic Pathology Surgical Pathology and Cytopathology serve crucial diagnostic roles in Pathology including the execution of billing functions to include coding creating full and contract registrations and submitting charge entry and credits in the Epic system which require accuracy and input of patients charges into the hospital computer system. The person who executes these billing functions is responsible for analyzing and computing accounts and being a liaison between the lab HIM UTMC patient accounting and clinics and UTP practice plan. Responsibilities require the handling of confidential information with competence efficiency commitment and devotion and all are of central importance in the global process of health care delivery to all customers.
Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of course in Data Entry and Medical Terminology or comparable experience.
Knowledge of and understanding medical insurance ICD9-CM CPT coding.
Must have recent work experience in the medical insurance industry with current 2-4 complete years insurance experience.
General knowledge of various reimbursement methodologies including: DRG APC Per Diem Capitation and Fee for Service. Must understand regulations associated with state and federal laws; i.e.: HIPAA Corporate Compliance.
Competent in keyboard skills word processing and other software applications as required. Word Excel required.
Ability to learn database programs.
Familiar with general clerical duties and office practices and procedures.
