Job Summary

Senior Wintel and Azure Cloud Sysadmin is a hands on technical lead responsible for the stability security and evolution of Windows server estates and Azure cloud platforms. This role owns L2/L3 incident response platform hardening automation and IaC and mentoring junior engineers. The senior sysadmin partners with application teams network storage and security to deliver resilient cost efficient services.
Core Responsibilities

. Platform Operations: Lead administration of Windows Server Active Directory Group Policy IIS and related middleware; manage Azure resources including VMs VNet Storage Azure AD Backup and Site Recovery.
. Incident and Problem Management: Own L2/L3 incidents perform rapid triage coordinate cross team remediation produce RCAs and implement permanent fixes.
. Backup and Disaster Recovery: Design execute and validate backup and ASR/DR runbooks; lead scheduled DR tests and post test remediation.
. Automation and Infrastructure as Code: Develop and maintain PowerShell ARM/Bicep or Terraform modules and CI/CD pipelines to automate deployments patching and operational tasks.
. Security and Compliance: Implement hardening baselines manage Key Vault and secrets enforce least privilege support audits and remediate vulnerabilities.
. Monitoring and Capacity Management: Configure and tune Azure Monitor Log Analytics and alerting; analyze metrics for performance cost and capacity planning.
. Knowledge and Governance: Maintain SOPs runbooks and run regular knowledge transfer sessions; mentor junior staff and participate in on call rotations.

Required Skills and Experience

. 10 years experience in Windows server administration and 3 years operating Azure production environments.
. Deep expertise in Active Directory Group Policy IIS Windows internals and patch management.
. Strong scripting and automation skills with PowerShell and experience with ARM/Bicep or Terraform.
. Proven troubleshooting skills across compute networking storage and identity in hybrid environments.
. Experience with Azure Backup Azure Site Recovery Azure AD RBAC Key Vault and Azure Monitor.
. Excellent communication skills for stakeholder updates runbook writing and cross team coordination.


Preferred Qualifications and Certifications

. Certifications: AZ 104 AZ 305 AZ 500 Microsoft Certified: Windows Server or equivalent.
. Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper V) SAN storage Citrix SQL Server and enterprise backup solutions.
