General Responsibilities
This is the journey level of preventive maintenance roofing and warehouse trades series. Performs a variety of skilled journey level repairs and modifications. Maintenance and installation of new and existing preventive maintenance roofing and warehouse work. Many maintenance tasks are performed at schools centers and offices while others are performed in a shop or at fixed sites. Some position assigned to this classification may be asked to work regular hours or overtime hours.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent. Experience with roofing and moving equipment desirable.
License/Certification
A valid drivers license permitting its holder to operate an NPS vehicle.
Essential Job Functions
- Determines defects and repairs installs and maintains exhaust fans knowledgeable of diesel engines and transfer switches
- Demonstrates proper techniques when moving furniture and materials
- Work on roofs performing repairs
- Knowledgeable of common hazards and safety precautions
- Skilled in the use of tools equipment and materials
- Ability to plan and perform work of the trade at the full journey level ability to perform well under emergency repairs
- Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with peers contractors administrators and students
Physical Attributes
- Able to lift up to 75 pounds
- Able to stoop bend kneel and climb up and down ladders
- Able to work in cramped or uncomfortabke positions for an extended period of time
- Able to work on roofs 50 feet or higher
- Able to wear required safety equipment (dust masks rubber gloves safety shoes)
Hazards
- Exposure to diesel fuel oil coolants and acid
- Exposure to strong solvents
- Exposure to temperatures excessive noise levels moving machinery and furniture
- Usage of power equipment
Unusual Demands
- Work is performed inside and outside of school buildings. Work may require unusual working hours inclement weather and working above roof lines.
