Description & Requirements

We are seeking an exceptional and motivated Research Scientist to join the Martin-Rufino Group at the Lander Lab at the Broad this position you will lead the effort to build the first comprehensive functional maps of transcription factor activity with the ultimate goal of fundamentally transforming hematopoietic stem cell transplantation as we know it. You will play a critical role in discovering the fundamental principles of transcription factor function and engineering new regulatory programs that enable minimally toxic transplants directly shaping the future of cell therapies.

The successful candidate will develop new high-throughput technologies at the intersection of genetic perturbations single-cell genomics and epigenomic tools to uncover the complex regulatory mechanisms governing human cellular identity. You will also lead the translation of these foundational genomic insights into tangible life-saving therapies by engineering synthetic circuits into human cells and interrogating their effects. You will have direct access to the Broads world-class technology platforms enabling you to scale experiments at a throughput rarely possible in traditional academic settings. You will collaborate with a dynamic community of scientists and Platforms across the Broad Institute including leaders in computational biology genome engineering and clinical research to drive discoveries that define the next era of human genomics.

While optional a cover letter is encouraged so we can better understand your journey what drew you to our work and why you feel this lab is the right next step for your career.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES
Pioneer and lead independent research projects focused on developing large-scale technologies for mapping transcription factor activity integrating genetic perturbations with single-cell epigenomic measurements
Drive the translation of genomic insights into engineered circuits that redefine hematopoietic stem cell transplants
Collaborate with scientists and postdoctoral fellows and provide scientific leadership and mentorship to research associates to make fundamental discoveries in gene regulation and cell biology
Make significant contributions to scientific papers quantitative data analyses and presentations
Contribute to generation of protocols and data analyses
Work with multidisciplinary teams across the Institute and serve as a liaison between the lab and collaborators at the Broad to accelerate the clinical translation

REQUIREMENTS
Ph.D. in Molecular Biology Genetics Biochemistry or related life science field
05 years of relevant post-PhD laboratory experience in academia or industry
Strong hands-on experience in high-throughput sequencing-based assays (particularly single-cell genomics e.g. Perturb-seq scATAC-seq scRNA-seq etc.) molecular biology (cloning lentiviral preparation) flow cytometry and cell culture
Experience with genome editing tools and their delivery including CRISPR-based perturbation in human cells viral-like particles lipid-nano particles highly preferred
Ability to design rigorous experiments and independently drive projects from hypothesis generation through publication
Fluency in interpreting high-dimensional datasets and working closely with computational biologists to drive discovery
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly present complex data
Ability to collaborate effectively in an interdisciplinary environment spanning experimental and computational biology
