Actuarial Manager, Canada ASSC

We are currently searching for a talented and motivated Actuarial Manager to join our MBPS Canada Actuarial Shared Service Center (Canada ASSC) team. Our team primarily supports the reserving and reporting of our key financial metrics for our Canadian lines of business with team members located in Toronto Waterloo Montreal and Manila.

Position Responsibilities:

• Maintain and run valuation models of various lines of business for quarterly reserve calculation and financial reporting primarily using Moodys Analytics AXIS software. Present results and recommendations to the line actuary as well as other affected personnel in the actuarial area and line functions.

• Support the annual shareholder dividend recommendation exercise by executing the model runs and communicating the results to stakeholders.

• Analyze reserve capital and risk calculations and provide commentary on results to our contacts in Canada.

• Be involved with change management of our actuarial models including assumption updates model refinements and new product implementation.

• Maintain an awareness of department/division activity and may initiate own projects.

• Become a person of contact when engaging with various business units to provide technical support for any questions raised during the engagement.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Actuarial Science Mathematics or Statistics

• At least 6 years of actuarial work experience in Insurance or Financial Services.

• Associate designation in any recognized actuarial organization (SOA ASP) with meaningful progress towards Fellowship.

• Knowledgeable in various actuarial concepts and their application to life insurance including finance theory and life contingencies; specifically knowledge on business drivers to our financial metrics such as reserving.

• Demonstrate working knowledge in actuarial modelling software such as Moodys Analytics AXIS. Experience using database software such as MS Access SQL or their equivalents is preferred but not required. Excellent proficiency in MS Office (Excel VBA Access) or similar programs

• Ability to communicate output clearly and concisely both orally and in technical writing. Experience writing technical reports and presentation of results is preferred.

• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to gather synthesize organize and report information results and recommendations to various levels across the organization.

• Strong ability to establish priorities and manage multiple tasks with accuracy and attention to detail for self and others.

• Amenable to work in UP Ayala Technohub (Quezon City)

• Amenable to work on a hybrid set-up (3x a week onsite)
