The Product Knowledge team is at the epicenter of eBays Tech-driven Customer-centric overhaul. Our team is responsible for building and leveraging eBays Product Knowledge enabling a deep understanding of user intent and preferences. By transforming vast and complex data into actionable intelligence we deliver personalized experiences across different stages of the buying and selling journey. The role: Sr Data & ML Engineer MTS 1

We are seeking a seasoned Data & ML Engineer who will serve as a technical leader within a high-impact fast-moving team. This role is ideal for an engineer who brings clarity and direction to complex problem spaces leads through influence and partners effectively across disciplines. You will drive architectural decisions elevate engineering quality and unblock teams through deep technical expertise and strong collaboration.

Responsibilities:

• Own a functional area end-to-end; set coding and documentation standards.

• Communicate risks/trade-offs and influence decisions across the team.

• Map business problems to production-ready solutions.

• Champion engineering excellence: security scalability performance availability.

• Identify cross-system gaps propose solutions and drive resolution.

• Drive ramp launch and observability.

Requirements:

• . Computer Science or an equivalent professional experience.

• 36 years of experience in software design and development with strong fundamentals in data structures algorithms and system design.

• Experience with spark data pipelines microservices with REST/GraphQL APIs and eventdriven patterns.

• Solid understanding of data modeling and persistence plus NoSQL and caching.

• Handson with cloud containers (Docker/Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong testing discipline (unit integration contract E2E).

• Passion and commitment for technical excellence.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset and appreciation for diverse perspectives.

Additional Details

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors including location skills and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits (including RRSP eligibility various paid time off benefits such as PTO and parental leave).
